Is there any way to delete ad units?
Before moving further, we want to make it clear that there is no way to delete ad units in Google AdSense permanently as of now. The ad unit once created will remain in your account forever. Google AdSense has not officially clarified why they do not allow the deletion of ad units.
How to hide ad units in Google AdSense
If you are no longer using any ad unit and you want to remove it from your ads overview dashboard, then there is an option to hide or archive it. Follow this step-by-step guide to do that –
- Login to your Google AdSense dashboard.
- Click the menu button (three parallel lines at the top-left corner) and then go to Ads > Overview.
- Now move to the “By ad unit” section. Here you will find all ad units you have created in your AdSense account.
- Click three dots button next to the ad unit you want to hide.
- Tap the Archive option. After this, you will see that your ad unit is removed from the list.
If an ad unit is inactive for a longer period of time (means you haven’t used in anywhere), then Google AdSense will automatically add it in the archived section.
How to view and unarchive hidden ad units
From the filters at the top, you can click “+ Include archived units” to make all your hidden ad units visible.
If you ever want to unhide them again, simply click the three dots button next to them and then tap “Un-archive” option.
How to edit an ad unit such as its name and size
If the reason for deleting the ad unit is that you have chosen its name or size incorrectly, then you can edit it. Google AdSense allows you to make all kinds of customizations. Simply, click the edit (pencil) icon next to the ad unit you want to edit and then you can change its name, size, and design. There is no need to create a new ad unit as you can make all the necessary changes in the previous one.
